Social and competition lawn bowls are played on the Club’s two natural grass (tift dwarf) playing surfaces, better known as 'The Greens'. Maclean Bowling Club’s greens cater to players of all abilities and the Club has a strong history and association with lawn bowls

dating back to 1929 when the Club opened.

The Club hosts several major bowls tournaments throughout the year,

in addition to an extensive Club Championship Program and social bowls calendar of events.



Maclean Highlanders Travelling Bowlers

The Maclean Highlanders is the Maclean Bowling Club’s social travelling bowls sub-club.

Membership is $5 to join with social visits from other Clubs as well as trips away.

Latest Bowls News As at Monday 23rd June 2025 Our Community Challenge was completed last week and we congratulate all the teams that took place in the event once again. Thank you to both the Darts association and the Woodford Island Warriors for their continued support of the event. Winners for this competition was the Darts No.1. Thank you must also go to all our registered bowlers who help out the newcomers each week. We hosted the Ray Miller Triples tournament which was sponsored by the Lincoln Place and in particular the Northern Rivers Lifestyle Estate at Gulmarrad. Thank you for their ongoing support of bowls at the club. Thanks to all the players that made up a full field here on Saturday placings were as follows: 1st – Steve Jackson, Ian Parker and Des Johnson 2nd – Dan Kilroy, Paul Burnes and Paul Gray 3rd – Steve Bell, Stewart Bradley and Indi Conlan 4th – Ron Eckhardt, Mick Carmody and Greg Ritchie 5th – Cliff Vagg, Greg Symes and Dave Beaumont Open Singles Final was played on Sunday the 22nd June between Doug Starr and Paul Gray, These two bowlers have been a model of consistency this season, with Paul and Doug featuring in many championship finals this year. Doug shot out to an early lead, but as has been the case for most of the year, Paul managed to fight his way back and eventually came out on top 25-22. Congratulations to Paul on another victory and to Doug on yet another final. No Tuesday Social Bowls this week 24/06/2024 due to the Iluka ladies tournament, good luck to our ladies trekking across. Social bowls as per usual on Wednesday and Fridays from 1pm. There is also a roll up group on Wednesday evenings, that has a few players starting out, if you wish to face the cold and join them, they meet around 6pm on Wednesday evenings.

Barefoot Bowls

Social or corporate groups can book the bowls area for private functions, parties and events,

or to simply enjoy a fun game with friends and family. 


There is an outdoor covered area and bar as well as two lawn bowl rinks available.


Green fees are $10pp to be paid at the main bar upon arrival.
